William B. Young, Jr. was born in in Westchester, New York and grew up in Sea Island, Georgia. In 1982 he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Rollins College. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business, in 1992, and his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Barry University School of Law, in 2004.
Mr. Young is admitted to practice in the state of Florida, U.S. District Court Middle District of Florida, and the District of Columbia. He also serves as a county court mediator in the Orange County Florida Court System. His areas of practice include personal injury, mediation, securities fraud/broker negligence, and contract and business litigation. Mr. Young focuses his practice on assisting clients recoup investment losses due to brokerage firm negligence and fraud.
The Supreme Court of Florida, the Young Lawyers Division of The Florida Bar and the Florida Pro Bono Coordinators Association recognized Mr. Young for exceptional pro bono service in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), Orange County Bar Association, Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association, Association for Conflict Resolution, American Association for Justice (AAJ), and the Florida Justice Association (FJA).
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Young spent over eight years working in the securities industry. Before joining Colling Gilbert Wright & Carter in September, 2006, he worked as an attorney for Hooper & Weiss, LLC, representing plaintiffs in securities litigation. He has personally litigated and resolved several hundred NASD arbitration claims, many resulting in claimants receiving monetary awards through live arbitration hearings.
